2024 TAEMIN WORLD TOUR [Ephemeral Gaze] IN SINGAPORE
Taemin, the maknae (youngest member) of one of K-Pop’s most iconic boy groups ‘SHINee’, has returned to Singapore for his first solo world tour, 2024 TAEMIN WORLD TOUR [Ephemeral Gaze]. He was here earlier in March for “SHINee World VI”, alongside members Key and Minho. He delivered mesmerizing energy, showcasing his expertise of over a decade in the idol industry. The cheers of TAEMates (Taemin's fans) resonated throughout his setlist, making the 9th of November a night to remember.
The concert began with a single line of light projected onto a white curtain enveloping the stage, developing into a heartbeat pulse as the atmosphere began to build. The suspense broke when the curtains dropped and TAEMates cheered as Taemin opened with ‘Deja Vu’ from his latest album “ETERNAL”, released in August 2024. He followed up with his iconic arm under his shirt point choreography for ‘Guilty’ - a dance challenge that went viral amongst the KPOP idol community. The opening segment ended with a rearranged version of ‘Advice’.

The opening segment ended with a rearranged version of ‘Advice’.
Taemin did his best to speak to his Singaporean TAEMates in English, explaining that he wanted to create a story with the first three songs. He shared that it seems to rain every time he has a concert, and that this must be his destiny. Telling us to have a beautiful time, he moved on to the next segment.
As crimson red flower petals floated down onto the stage, Taemin painted a picture of sophistication and grace whilst showcasing his diverse range of dance capabilities and unwavering vocal prowess in his Korean rendition of ‘Goodbye’. ‘IDEA’ and ‘Heaven’ soon followed, which left fans in awe. It had the perfect dramatic ending of Taemin sprinting down the stage and plunging back-first into the darkness, with a loud rumble and flashes of lightning to follow.

Showcasing his vocal versatility, Taemin performed moving ballads ‘I’m Crying’, ‘Clockwork’ and ‘Not Over You’ on a cozy sofa with a rainy ambience. Much to TAEMates delight, he took song requests from the audience and did an acapella of ‘Already”. He then requested for everyone to turn on their phone’s flashlights for ‘The Unknown Sea’, and mentioned that the song conveys his heart. A moving performance of ‘Blue’ followed thereafter.
The hype built back up when each member of his dance crew took to the stage to show off their best moves. We thought this was the perfect segue to the next section as it gave a chance to spotlight his dance crew whilst keeping the energy high. Taemin returned to perform powerful numbers ‘G.O.A.T’, ‘Sexy in the Air’ and ‘The Rizzness’ as cheers continuously echoed throughout the hall. He shared that it was the most powerful set of the concert, and while catching his breath, sang and danced to more song requests - Sexuality’, ‘Press Your Number’, ‘Black Rose’ and ‘Already’.

He shared that it was the most powerful set of the concert, and while catching his breath, sang and danced to more song requests - Sexuality’, ‘Press Your Number’, ‘Black Rose’ and ‘Already’.
The night progress with some of his most legendary hits, ‘WANT’, ‘MOVE’ and ‘Criminal’, which brought the loudest cheers from the audience, ending with ‘Horizon’ from his recent comeback. TAEMates beckoned Taemin back for an encore with a heartfelt sing-a-long of ‘I Think It’s Love’, and he returned to stage decked out in his tour merchandise, a cool white baseball jersey to perform his iconic debut song ‘DANGER’ and ‘Crush’.
As fans raised their banners for a thoughtfully prepared fan event which wittily read "Eternal Love only for Taemin", he shared his heartfelt words reminding us to keep healthy, not fall sick, and to always be happy. Before ending off with a cute fan-made video project featuring his feline fur babies, Taemin further flexed his Rizzness by saying “Chilli crab, pepper crab, I don’t need that, I just need you’.
To repay the love he was shown today, he surprised TAEMates and Shawols (SHINee’s fans) with ‘Pansy’. To give a little context, the pansy flower is also known to be the birth flower of SHINee’s anniversary (25th May), and the heartfelt lyrics reflect his gratitude to the fans' unwavering love. You could hear the sincerity in his voice, but what touched us was how he took the time to walk to each corner of the stage, taking slow bows to show his appreciation for those who stayed by his side all these years. The concert came to a final close on an emotional note with ‘Say Less’.

As a Shawol myself, being able to see Taemin twice this year has been a real treat. SHINee World II, was the first concert I had ever attended at the age of 14, 14 years ago. Even with the passage of time, Taemin never fails to impress me with his performing prowess on stage, all whilst remaining humble and genuine.
