[Review] 2024 BAEKHYUN ASIA TOUR LONSDALEITE IN SINGAPORE
On 28th March, Resorts World Ballroom was filled with beautifully dolled up EXO-Ls (also affectionately known as Aeries) dressed in varying shades of green and white in a bid to match the 'Lettuce' dress code, chosen by none other than EXO's BAEKHYUN. Apart from carrying an assortment of lettuce merchandise, many also brought along the adorable corgi, Teolaegi, a character designed by the singer himself.
This marks BAEKHYUN's return to Singapore since his last concert with EXO in 2019, and is also the first time the singer held a concert as a soloist on our sunny shores. As fans streamed in and settled down, the lights dimmed and the venue was lit up by thousands of silver lightsticks that waved in anticipation. The bluetooth synced lightsticks changed colours and patterns in rhythm to the beat of the intro VCR, which was a magnificent sight.

Donned in a bejewelled white suit, BAEKHYUN emerged, exuding charisma and charm. He took the stage with his rendition of 'Diamond', a song originally by EXO, aptly representative of both <Lonsladeite> and his group. Apart from his sleek dance moves, he wowed the audience with his signature powerful vocals, hitting high notes with ease.
This was followed by a crowd favourite, 'Playboy', another of EXO's songs known for its sensual and seductive choreography. While showing off multiple consecutive body waves, BAEKHYUN's velvety smooth voice perfectly captivated the essence of the song. The atmosphere reached an all time high and he continued to charm his fans, now with popular solo tracks, 'Stay Up' and 'Ice Queen'. As this was the first times fans heard these songs live in Singapore, the cheers peaked and sang along in unison.
After a riveting performance, BAEKHYUN took the time to chat with Aeries, "You've waited a long time, right? It's been such a long time since our last concert here". Known for his cheeky personality, BAEKHYUN definitely didn't disappoint with the Singlish he prepared, "our Aeries, chiobu (pretty)", he reiterated with a thumbs up, "Alamak (oh my)". He nailed the expression with a facepalm too!

BAEKHYUN then changed into a minimalist white jacket and the first beats of 'UN Village' echoed across the venue, prompting an outburst of screams and the loudest fan chant yet, especially when the song reached the famous 'rolling rolling' choreography that took the internet by storm. Slowing down the tempo, he went into chill R&B tracks 'Love Scene', 'Bungee', and 'Love Scene' taking the time to go closer, greet and serenade fans all around the venue. His vocals blended into a smooth melody with Aeries, who sang along seamlessly despite Korean not being their first language.
Expressing his awe at the loudness of the chants, he continued with "I would really like to hear loud cheers and screams for the next song! Do you know what's the next song? I think you'll need to prepare yourselves~"
And he was right - taking things to a new level, his team set up a life-sized bed complete with a rotating platform. With his dance team, BAEKHYUN gave a soulful performance, effortlessly hitting the high notes in 'Cry For Love' - his vocals have no bounds. After another concept video, the singer returned to stage, this time looking absolutely stunning in an all-black outfit topped with a leather jacket. 'Ghost' and 'Underwater' showcased his stable vocals despite complex choreography, but what took the cake was 'Bambi', where he emerged with a fedora. His velvety smooth voice paired with the elegant and fluid dance moves brought the fan chants to a crescendo.

Of course, the fan con wouldn't be complete without showing the puppy side of BAEKHYUN, and he definitely knew what Aeries wanted. BAEKHYUN surprised fans with his final outfit akin to a colourful marshmallow - a pink and white puffer jacket, denim jeans and a pink lop-eared bunny beanie to match. The outfit went perfectly well with the upbeat segment of setlist, comprising of 'Poppin' and 'R U Ridin'?' (complete with a solo dance break). He playfully bounced around the stage, teased his dance team and gave a glimpse of his well-loved bubbly personality.
"It's been a while since I've been in Singapore, so I specially prepared these rabbit ears! Do you like it?". The resounding cheers in response made it clear that the fans loved it. "I really hope you guys like it and think I'm really cute." With promises of returning as a full group in the future, he tried to transition the conversation to introduce his final song.
"Now these are the last two songs, but we all know it's a fake 'last song'. You already know it, right? I'll show you the last song." As the crowd started telling him not to leave, he playfully quipped, "I already told you, it's not actually the last song yet!". It was endearing to see how he communicated with Aeries like they were close friends of his. 'Betcha' had one of the loudest fan chants yet, as everyone yelled 'BETCHA' together with him. 'Candy' was a personal favourite - the cute choreography and cheerful vibes of the iconic song ended off this segment perfectly.

The lights dimmed once again and 'Beautiful' started to play as the lyrics were flashed on the screen. This was Aeries' gift for BAEKHYUN, and it was their turn to serenade him, all singing in beautiful harmony to show their love and support. As the song came to a close, strobe lights started flashing and the familiar introduction to 'Paranoia' started another thunderous round of cheers. BAEKHYUN had changed into a black pullover with his signature light icon, and was still wearing his adorable bunny ears. This is one of his latest songs as a part of his collaboration with League of Legends and it was an honour to see his powerful performance of this song live in Singapore!
"Because you all sang 'Beautiful' for me, I had the strength to power through that last performance. I've seriously spent all my energy now." BAEKHYUN was visibly worn out from putting every ounce of his energy into the choreography, but it was cute to see him still putting on his biggest smile and joking around with the fans. He promised that he'd not keep everyone waiting for too long, and asked for fans to anticipate his next activities.
Going into 'Privacy' and 'Garden in the Air', BAEKHYUN spent his remaining time on stage waving and interacting with as many fans as possible, knowing that everyone waited a long time to see him again. As the concert came to a close, for real this time, BAEKHYUN ended off with 'Amusement Park'. It was his final serenade for the fans as he stared adoringly and appreciated the final moments of his Singapore stop.
'Everyone, let's end off with EXO's slogan!", "WE ARE ONE" he signalled, "EXO, SARANGHAJA (LET'S LOVE)!" replied Aeries. Something about the resounding cheers and his promise to return made it feel like it was not a goodbye, but a see you later.
We look forward to welcoming BAEKHYUN (and the rest of EXO) back to Singapore again soon!
