Accompanied by a live band, the evening commenced on a romantic voyage with Jiyoung as she opened with “Love Story” and “Tell Me You Love Me”.
Performing on our sunny shores for the first time since debut in 2016, she shared how she really wanted to visit Singapore after hearing from friends in the industry about how fun their experiences were here. She even said “I’ve only done two songs but I get what they mean now, it’s a first to experience this kind of reaction and energy for me.”
As a form of fan service, she even prepared some Singlish phrases she picked up like “Hello, lah” and “I love you lah”. The first segment continued on with “Chase Love Hard” and “You(=I)”. To create an element of fun and interaction, she incorporated simple dance moves to go along with the lyrics, instantly uplifting the mood as LoBolys (BOL4’s official fanclub name) moved along to the catchy melodies.
Fitting of the theme of the first segment, she followed with “From the beginning You and I” and “Stars over me” and “Bom”. LoBolys created Jiyoung’s very own personal milky way during “Stars over me”, illuminating the venue using their phone lights, causing her to say how she “never imagined that (fans) were going to gift (her) with stars”.

A brief cinematic interview VCR discussing the songs from her latest EP, 'Love.zip,' served as a smooth transition to the second part of the show, during which the tempo slowed down. To fans’ surprise, she emerged from the stands where she sang “When Love Becomes Goodbye”, “Mermaid” and “Space”. She expressed how she really wanted to perform “Mermaid” amongst LoBolys since many fans believe it to be a fan song, and she further shared her desire to keep staying close by her fans and continue singing for them in the future.
We really enjoyed how each segment of the show brought us on a different journey with carefully chosen songs to match the mood. Fans were transported around the world with “Rome”, “Seattle Alone” and “Workaholic”. Some fan favourites like “Travel”, “Some” and “Friend The End” brought out the loudest cheers, as part 3 ended with the audience up on their feet dancing to the addictive tunes.

Jiyoung initiated the encore performances with "Galaxy" and expressed her gratitude to her band crew by individually introducing each member, allowing them a moment in the spotlight with their freestyle riffs. She took impromptu song requests from the audience, and treated them to short verses of “Butterfly Effect”, “Fix Me”, “XX” and “Hard to Love”. Despite struggling with remembering the lyrics to some of the songs since they were released years back, we truly admire her efforts to perform the songs fans wanted to hear.
During the photo taking session, LoBolys surprised Jiyoung with a fan-made video showing her journey as an artist and a banner which read “Thank you Ahn Jiyoung for coming to Singapore”. They even sang a happy birthday song to her in Korean, which brought tears to her eyes.

To the fan projects she replied, :“I really want to find a phrase other than ‘thank you’ to express my gratitude. I’m really thankful, and it’s not easy to become someone of importance in another person’s life, right? To make sure that I don’t lose that presence in each and every one of you, I’ll make sure to work extra hard to stick by you always. This is the first time I’m hearing my fans overseas singing a happy birthday to me too. How is it that your voices are so beautiful? I’ll make sure to do whatever it takes to come back to Singapore. Even if you say otherwise, I’ll make it happen, I promise”.
The night ended with “To My Youth” and “Good Night”, evoking lasting emotions as Jiyoung bid goodbye to LoBolys. Thank you for sharing your stories with us and for filling our night with your beautiful melodies, we’ll now have the energy to get through the week thanks to you. We look forward to you keeping your promise and hope to see you on our sunny island again in the future!
