Caffé Bene - A Welcome Respite from the Sultry Heat
Many Singaporeans like to visit Johor Bahru because it is the most convenient place where Singaporeans can seek refuge from the high cost of living.
Unfortunately, there is no escaping from the hot weather, and as such, you can find many shops near the Malaysian Customs which sell drinks and desserts. One of them is Caffé Bene.

Caffé Bene (“Good Café” in Italian) is in fact a South Korean coffeehouse chain. It has a branch located in City Square, the shopping centre across the road from the Malaysian Customs. A good place to chill out, it sells desserts like cakes, bing su, ice cream waffles, gelato and honey bread, which you can eat at one of the many black tables spaciously spread out throughout the restaurant.
A double-sized bing su, one of the most expensive items on the menu, costs slightly less than 30 Malaysian ringgit, which is around 10 Singapore dollars, going by today’s exchange rate. In contrast, the same dessert in Singapore would cost around 20 Singapore dollars.
If you do visit Malaysia from Singapore, do consider chilling out at Caffé Bene. You will get a welcome respite from the hot and humid weather in the best way possible – by tucking into some of the most delicious desserts from one of South Korea’s biggest coffeehouse chains.
