Choo Choo Chicken 츄츄 치킨
After going on a trip to Korea, I finally understood the hype over Korean fried chicken. It was so delicious that I had it almost every single day when I was in Korea. However, I have not been able to find such tasty fried chicken here in Singapore ever since, until I found Choo Choo Chicken. Choo Choo Chicken call themselves the best tasting Korean Fried Chicken in town and I may have to agree with them on that.
The main branch is a small shop located conveniently at Bali Lane, which is just a 10 minutes walk away from Bugis MRT station (Downtown Line exit D). It is opened from 11.30am to 11pm daily. Surrounded by many shopping outlets, it is a perfect place to eat after a tiring day of shopping. It has a lovely ambience as Korean music is played in the background. Occasionally, music videos of Korean idol groups or famous Korean dramas will be screened on the television.

The lunch set, which is available from 11.30am to 3pm, is pretty affordable at just $8.90 a set. It includes 4 pieces of chicken, seaweed rice and salad with dressing. The flavors available for the chicken are crispy, soy, spicy, sweet, honey soy and garlic. If you find the process of eating a chicken wing tedious, you may choose to order the tender set which will be served boneless! How convenient is that? Do note that you may choose any flavor on the menu for boneless chicken fillet as well. If you prefer your chicken with bones, there will be a mini bin provided on the table for disposing the bones to keep it less messy.
This is the tender set, with sweet sauce flavor. The succulent chicken is well coated with a generous amount of sauce and it remains crispy despite it being just slightly warm when served. The chicken is indeed very tender and juicy with the sauce which makes it very flavorful. The rice is mixed with bits of seaweed which complements well with the crunchy salad dressed with peanut sauce. The portion makes it really worth as it will definitely be able to fill you up after the meal.
The Choo Choo honey soy wrap is a wrap of the tender chicken with salad. ($7.90) The wrap is not too thick which is goes well with the chicken and the different textures of salad to give the extra crunch factor. It also comes with potato wedges with ketchup sauce. The wedges is slightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside like that of mash potato.
You may also choose to order it as an extra side for $4 if you are craving for it. It comes in a presentable holder for the wedges and ketchup and the portion is suitable to share among 2-3 people.
Some other popular orders are 8 Pieces chicken (4 wings, 4 drumlets) / 16 Pieces chicken (8wings, 8 drumlets) for people who are just going for the chicken, as well as rice burger which has a large variety of flavors to choose from. The chicken will be served in a lovely basket which will have a mix of wings and drumlets.

Shikhye is a famous traditional Korean dessert drink which is made with barley malt powder and rice. It is known to aid in digestion and it is refreshing since it is normally served cold and has a sweet taste to it. I would definitely recommend you to try it if you have never tried Shikhye before!
If you do not like sweet drinks, you can go for the Korean Barley tea for just $1. It is a very light drink with a slight bitter after taste. It is known to have many health benefits and is liked by many in Korea.
