[Review] Moon Byul 1st world tour in singapore [museum: an epic of starlit]
On 13th April, Capitol Theatre was brightly lit in a sea of green and white, from Moomoos' radish light sticks waving rapidly in anticipation of Moon Byul. The singer held her first world tour [MUSUEM: an epic of starlit], five months after MAMAMOO+'s first fancon last year. The entire theatre sang enthusiastically to her tracks playing in the hall prior to the concert.
As the introduction to 'WWUD (What would you do)' played, Moon Byul surfaced in a blue blazer and white pants, looking extremely charismatic as she showed off her rapping and sleek dance moves. This was followed by 'Eclipse + MOON MOVIE + DARK ROMANCE'. She could clearly do it all, effortlessly nailing the high notes and not faltering even with the complex choreography for each song. Her backup dancers also took the choreography to the next level, with impressive formations and that made Moon Byul stand out and elevated the performance.
Taking the time to greet and interact with the fans, Moon Byul gave a quick introduction, "I came last November too, and now I'm here alone for my solo concert! I'm so happy to see all of you here and wanted to see you!". "It's been 10 years since my debut and it's my first world tour solo concert. It's not just me growing, but moomoos have also grown with me and it feels so different. I came with high expectations for Singapore!"
All her interactions with the fans were so intimate and personal, and it felt like a conversation between friends which was endearing. She also made the effort to speak in English to the best of her abilities, with one such moment being "stop, stop, calm down!" jokingly when the fans were cheering.

Next up were more emotional songs, featuring her smooth body waves in 'Shut Down' and 'TIMELINE', and the two songs had the loudest cheers thus far. "Shutdown and TIMELINE are songs that Moomoos really like. Why?? It must be because of this", Moon Byul quipped, while showing off body waves. Of course, which prompted more screaming from the fans.
This was followed by an enthralling performance of 'Intro: SYNOPSIS' and 'Absence'. Moon Byul expressed her love for the fans by picking up a booklet passed by a fan, and singing songs on request. It was evident that she genuinely wanted to spend time interacting with Moomoos, as she sang short snippets and got requests from fans across the theatre, even those at the back. The entire experience felt surreal, and it was sweet that she made so much effort to ensure that everyone felt included and had a great time.
One of the highlights was when she saw a fan holding up a distorted photo of her, which she immediately picked up. "I saw a really weird photo!! You're saying this is cute?! Does it look like me? No, it's so weird!" The fans continued to tease her by all holding up the same photo which sparked more playful banter between her and the fans. This mini-section really showed the great relationship Moon Byul developed with Moomoos, and definitely made the show a more special one, since it was personalised based on the fans' request. "Your voices are really good! It changes often from (Moon Byul re-enacts screaming), to (re-anacts beautiful singing).
After her performance of 'Like a Fool' and 'Love & Hate', a VCR played before she returned on stage with a full black outfit with 'TOUCHIN&MOVIN' and 'LUNATIC'. Praising everyone for remembering all the fan chants, Moon Byul continued to chat with the fans. She even started fanning Moomoos with a towel as they were getting hot, which was so sweet of her to do.

Moon Byul's vocals really shone through as she serenaded fans with 'ddu ddu ddu' and an emotional rendition of 'Refuge'. The songs were extra meaningful as she reiterated that "For people who are bold, or those who are not, we all still need a place of refuge. Before you can take care of others, love yourself first! I'll do my best to create songs that all Moomoos like so that you can lean on them too." This was also followed with a much needed reminder that "we only have one life, so remember not to go too crazy with work and take a pause sometimes". Moon Byul also did a cover of 'Congratulations + COMMA', where her vocals shone through once again.
As fans were feeling emotional with her heartfelt and genuine messages, she continued with an unreleased song 'Take Off'. Of all the songs, this one really showed is an absolute vocal powerhouse. "While listening to this song in future, I hope you remember how you're feeling in this exact moment as you're here with me. The lyrics say 'I want to take off with you'."
Singapore Moomoos returned the love by surprising Moon Byul with a cute cake, and she was visibly touched. "Is this cake real? It's fake right?" she joked.
After another VCR, Moon Byul reappeared, this time in a black cropped top and jeans. Getting back into the momentum, she continued with 'C.I.T.T (Cheese in the Trap)', 'Think About', 'Attention Seeker' and 'Memories'. The upbeat and lively songs brought the atmosphere to an all time high as fans were screaming the lyrics and waving their light sticks in rhythm to the beat.

To preserve the memories for the night, Moon Byul requested for a photo to be taken with SG Moomoos, but not before showing everyone a cute pose (together with a high pitched sound effect). Moomoos playfully went along with her by repeating the sound enthusiastically, much to her delight, turning it into a battle between who could do it better - those on the first or second floor.
As the concert eventually has to come to an end, she performed 'ILJIDO + NOLTO' and 'I'll throw it away', but Moomoos gave their all by chanting for an encore. Her encore definitely did not disappoint - referring to the song booklet from before, she started looking and lyrics and taking requests for her famous Noraebang session, where Moomoos had to lead the singing.
From 'TOUCHIN&MOVIN' to 'Shutdown', 'For Me' and even 'Selfish', SG Moomoos did a brilliant job at singing the songs. The entire theatre sang so loudly, while still staying on pitch and rhythm even with the slightly more challenging songs, and Moon Byul looked so proud and amazed throughout. The singer also sang a short excerpt of a local song, 'Singapura, Sunny Island', together with a cute dance which made everyone laugh. This was not all, due to popular demand from Moomoos, she sang a final song, 'In My Room', which extended her encore to five whole songs!
Her love for the fans, and passion for singing was evident during the encore as she tirelessly took in requests. She even went the extra mile to ask fans if everyone knew the requested song before singing it. These attempts at making the concert inclusive, even for newer fans was such a genuine gesture and showed her sweet personality.
All good things have to come to an end eventually, and with a final 'Shooting, Star, Cross' chant with the fans, she said her final farewells, bringing the mesmerising night to a close. Like all SG Moomoos, we anticipate her return once again, hopefully sometime soon!
