EXo-sc back to back fancon tour in singapore
Press Conference
Earlier this week, Chanyeol and Sehun, members of EXO-SC, graced our shores for their first fancon in Singapore! EXO-SC is a subunit of EXO, and while they've held multiple concerts as EXO, this is their first event here as a duo.
Selected fans and the media had the chance to attend the press conference with the two, which was a cosy and intimate closed-door event that allowed us to catch a glimpse of their personalities beyond their charismatic appearances on stage. EXO-Ls in the room were noticeably excited, but also extremely courteous and calm, as everyone waited for the members to enter. The host also made his best effort to interact with those in the room, reiterating that he will try his best to make it an interactive environment for both the artistes and the fans.
Every time the door swung open, everyone seemed to hold their breath and gasp in anticipation, only for it to be a false alarm. The artistes were running a little late and the organisers kindly brought out candy to give out to the fans as the host made small talk. When the door opened a final time, the two members finally walked in, exuding charm and charisma as they entered the room, prompting cheers from the crowd.
Sehun donned a cream-coloured outerwear, jeans and his classic slicked-back hair, while Chanyeol rocked his black jacket and shorts, both looking effortlessly good. Chanyeol flashed a dimpled smile while Sehun grinned shyly, as they posed for the cameras before taking a seat.

The host asked them about how they've been and their experience in Singapore so far. Chanyeol took the lead - "It's been 4 years since we last visited, and they we are excited to meet the fans. The weather has been great too, so we're glad to be back!". In response to the heat in Singapore, he mentioned that Korea is starting to get hot too, so it felt like he was greeting summer slightly earlier in Singapore.
They then shared more about themselves, revealing bits of personal stories and preferences as they answered questions from the media. As they were both so laid back and personable, it felt like a meeting with long-lost friends rather than a press conference, and the intimate setting made it all the more memorable.
On their ideal itinerary on a day of rest, Sehun showcased his down to earth personality as he said he'd spend the day in bed, at home - relatable, and many fans nodded in agreement. On the other hand, Chanyeol professed his love for the popular local dish, Chilli Crab, wanting to have Chilli Crab for all his meals, before heading to the beach for a chill walk.
Unbeknownst to us, they also shortlisted FOUR of the questions we submitted, and it was unreal listening to their responses to each one. The first was related to local food, if they had any local dishes (apart from Chilli Crab) they they hoped to be able to try. Sehun shared that they've only tried Chilli Crab as it's popular (as Chanyeol cutely said "Pepper Crab"), and asked for other recommendations from the fans. A fan recommended Satay, and Chanyeol seemed to know what it was, pointing at Sehun excitedly, "It's what you ate when you arrived at the Lounge today!".
As for other food in Asia, they've also tried and enjoy Nasi Goreng and Mee Goreng. But Chanyeol reinforced his love for crab again, repeating "Chilli Crab. Pepper Crab. Any crab!" with a fond look in his eyes, prompting laughter from the fans.

Our second question was about their favourite song of the many they've released over four years as a subunit. Sehun opted for 'Fly Away', proudly emphasising that it was composed by Chanyeol, clearly showing his adoration for his fellow member. Chanyeol felt like he couldn't make a decision because he loves all the songs, and his decision changes from time to time, but he's recently also into 'Fly Away'.
Moving into a different realm, we asked a question related to Marvel, because Chanyeol is known to be the biggest Marvel fan, from dressing up as Iron Man to even Deadpool for SM's Halloween Parties. We wanted to know who he would choose to be if he could be an Avenger, or who he thought was the most similar to himself. Clearly contemplating his decision, Chanyeol started off by saying that his favourite is Rocket, and he really loves Guardians of the Galaxy. But if it's about who he could be as an Avenger, he felt like his personality is the most similar to Star Lord. ("And he's as good looking as Star Lord, right?" asked the host, and both the fans, and Chanyeol himself agreed unanimously).
He was then asked to choose a character he felt Sehun was the most similar to, to which he almost immediately responded with "Groot", before laughing alongside the fans. We do see the resemblance though. "I am Groot", he said to Sehun, "You probably don't even know who he is, do you!" To which, Sehun replied smugly "isn't he the tree?", and Chanyeol's eyes widened with amazement, "yes, yes". The host tried getting Sehun to imitate Groot, and he cooly responded with "I am Groot", as EXO-Ls laughed in amusement.

The final question from us was addressed to Sehun, about the secret Santa gift he received from Chanyeol during their filming for EXO'mas. For context, Chanyeol gifted him an EXO-SC album (Chanyeol version, no less), much to his annoyance. We wanted to know if he still had it. Chanyeol clearly still remembers it, as he motioned to Sehun, who exclaims as the memory comes back to him.
"Ah, yes. Of course I don't have it anymore. Back then (during the filming), it was the first time I felt really bad. I had such high expectations for the gift, but all I got was a signed CD, so I was really disappointed." It looked like he was still (albeit jokingly) carrying a grudge, which prompted Chanyeol's unexpected yet cheeky apology, "I'm sorry", (EXO-Ls laughed), "It's okay." We're glad that the two made up and can finally put this behind them. Moments like these showed the genuine friendship between the two, as they tease and casually banter with one another as they do on screen, and it was great getting to witness it in person.

Other questions from other media included asking them for tips on cooking ramen. Chanyeol believes that one should follow the classic recipe, but include less water, while Sehun added that his tip was to add an egg. As for a food they could eat forever? Chanyeol chose Pizza with no hesitation, while Sehun decided on Soondae-Guk (blood sausage soup). The host also asked what food they think they eat too much of - Chanyeol has been eating a lot of Tonkatsu recently, while Sehun admitted that his was probably blood sausage soup too.
One thing they can't live without? Chanyeol chose his laptop, because he composes music everyday while Sehun couldn't choose any item, because he isn't even attached to his phone and can live without it.
They also asked Sehun about his latest drama, where his character donates a kidney to his best friend. This led to what is the most generous thing he would do for a friend, and he scratched his head while laughing nervously. After clearing his throat, he said that he can do the same thing, which is donating an organ. Chanyeol then pointed at himself, asking if Sehun would do that for him, to which he responded by shaking his head cheekily, ".. no". "Well, I don't need it", said Chanyeol trying to play it cool.
The press conference ended with a question most awaited by EXO-Ls, about EXO's comeback. The boys mentioned that they're currently preparing an EXO album, which fans can look forward to soon.
This concluded the press conference, and they posed for the fans and cameras once again before saying their goodbyes as they left to prepare for the concert. It was a short yet heartwarming time with them, and their vibrant personalities really shone through.

Fanmeet
As EXO-Ls dressed in varying shades of pink streamed into the Star Theatre, the beautiful silver ocean gradually came to life. Lightsticks with "EXO" lit up the room. The familiar introduction of "What a Life" started playing, cueing the cheers and aggressive waving of light sticks along with the beat. Chanyeol and Sehun dominated the stage with charismatic visuals, dressed in their outfits from the press conference. The song accentuated their deep and low voices, which strongly reverberated across the theatre, harmonising with the fanchants.

After the first song, they managed to settle down and have the long-awaited conversation with the audience. Sehun expressed his joy to be back in Singapore, even praising the fans for their ability to understand Korean even without the help of the translator. "Why? Did you learn it for us?", to which fans screamed a resonating "yes" in response. Chanyeol added that he's missed everyone, as it's been four years since they last visited.
The duo then dwelved into more intimate personal stories by showing photos they took. Sehun showed his sporty side with photos from his snowboarding trip - explaining that he was influenced by Chanyeol and that snowboarding is now an annual tradition for him. His second photo was a behind the scenes photo from EXO's fanmeeting earlier in the year. The reason behind the photo? Sehun said that the members looked really cute, which made him want to take the photo (aww).
Chanyeol's reel consisted of two photos too - the first was of them eating Chili Crab. His love for the dish was evident as he even went into a story about how they met a stranger and ate with him. He also paid for their meal. While it sounded realistic, Chanyeol then gave his signature cheeky grin, saying "you believed me, right? I was kidding!" Similar to Sehun, he also shared a behind the scenes photo from EXO's fanmeeting. His photo featured him sitting on the floor of the practise room, taking a photo of his reflection. Chanyeol claimed to be inspired by Suho, who was doing taking photos in a corner for 30 minutes, so he decided to do the same.
After a series of mismatched answers, the two were then asked to carry out a penalty, where they had to profess their love for one another. Like the close friends they are, they joked around and ended it with Chanyeol saying "You are Groot", and Sehun playing along and repeating "I am Groot".

Next up were more performances - "Borderline" and "1 Billion Views", which they delivered flawlessly. The atmosphere was at an all time high, and EXO-Ls even sang along perfectly to the bridge, prompting proud smiles from Chanyeol and Sehun.
During fanmeetings, games are something that can't be forgotten. The boys were pitted against one another in a timed relay involving a series of mini games. From balancing a can, to flipping a bottle and finally tossing hoops, they raced to get it done in the shortest time. They proved that there was nothing they couldn't do, with both breezing through the first two games. The hoop toss proved to be a slight challenge, but Sehun eventually won.
He got a Pandan cake as a reward, and looked like he enjoyed it, "It's good! Tastes like something I've eaten in Korea". Without anyone noticing, Chanyeol got a mouthful too, and even went for another. "It's Sehun's prize, not yours, Chanyeol!", joked the host, to which he gave a guilty yet cheeky smile. Chanyeol couldn't avoid his penalty though, which was Sehun pasting star-shaped stickers on his face. He really turned into Star Lord!
This led to their next performance, and as the mellow tune of "Fly Away" started playing, the two serenaded the fans with the ballad. It was magical as their voices came together perfectly with EXO-Ls, especially during the bridge and chorus.
In the next segment, EXO-SC wanted to present gifts to EXO-Ls, and they truly delivered. From three sets of hearts to a birthday song (with Chanyeol on the guitar), an acoustic version of "Yours" by Chanyeol, and even a random dance challenge with Sehun, EXO-Ls were more than happy with the surprises prepared for them. Chanyeol and Sehun even performed a snippet of 'The Eve' together, which created the loudest cheers that night. They then sat down to draw and create customized tumblers which were given to two lucky fans. Sehun signed his name, while Chanyeol drew and incredibly cute portrait of himself and Sehun as Star Lord and Groot. He even included a tiny chick to honour Sehun's nickname.

With the promise to return with the other EXO members, they took a photo with the fans, before performing "We Young" and "Rodeo Station", which they claimed were the last two songs. But that wasn't the end, as EXO-Ls continuously chanted their names for an encore. They returned with "Just Us Two", a crowd favourite which closed the fanmeet beautifully.
We'll hold the memories created on this day close to our hearts, as we await their return (with the rest of EXO).
