Kim Jae Hwan MIN:D Fanmeet in Singapore
6th July 2019 is a memorable day for W:INDs in Singapore as the popular vocalist Kim Jaehwan makes his return to Singapore for his first solo fanmeeting, M:IND.
The artist got the crowd soaring with the groovy track “Designer”, from his first solo album, starting the night on a high note. Endearingly hopping backstage as soon as the song ended, the MC for the night encouraged fans to cheer their hearts out as they chanted Jaehwan’s name to bring the artist back up on stage.
After a short introduction, the MC and Jaehwan did a great job on reeling the fans in, from using Singlish phrases like “大家好”, “All my chiobu W:INDs”, “Saya cinta kamu”, to even mixed Konglish (Korean+English) phrases like “같이 Fighting”, “오른쪽 Scream” and more.

The first segment of the night was Jjaeni’s Mind Map, where fans got a greater peek into Jaehwan beyond his artist side. His humorous and fun side was unstoppable, as he cracked jokes like, “I don’t know what is MBS (Marina Bay Sands) but I know MBC(a broadcast station in Korea)”.
Halfway through the segment, one of the stage effects went off by accident shocking fans but he wittily started singing happy birthday to the crowd. His professionalism coupled with this adorable comedic side handled the situation flawlessly.
Jaehwan serenaded everyone with the second song of the night, ‘Love You Still’. A sweet melodious ballad which showed off Jaehwan’s amazing vocal skills, he hit each note effortlessly. Towards the end of the song, fans started singing along and we can’t help but agree that “it felt like the fans and (him) were strolling in the park together as the cool night breeze grazed our faces”.
As he took out and tuned his electric guitar for the next song, the light reflected off his guitar casting a bright reflection towards the crowd. Afraid that it would be too glaring for fans, he humbly apologised for the reflecting light and commented that he would avoid it the next time by bringing another guitar instead. He stole our hearts that night with his sincerity and honesty. As his fingers glided across the guitar, he showed us another side of him with his amazing guitar riffs and as he strummed along to his very own rendition of the oldie ‘Knocking on Heaven’s door’.

Stars laced the backdrop, setting the scene for Jaehwan’s next stage, ‘My Star’. It was truly a breath-taking and emotional sight. ‘My Star’ showed off his stable vocals and seemingly endless vocal range, blessing the ears of all who were present before him that night.
He also put a twist on Demi Lovato’s ‘Sorry Not Sorry’. A funky song with great vibes, he showcased his enthusiasm and passion for dance. It’s definitely no easy feat to hit such high notes while dancing to such a fast beat song but the multi-talented artist managed to pull it all off with ease, impressing and hyping up the crowd.
Moving on to the second talk segment - Jjaeni’s place, Jaehwan showed fans the must-bring items when on a plane and in a hotel room. He brought out a plush toy from a fan and mentioned how he always tries to bring at least one item from his fans, wherever he goes. Isn’t that just so heartwarming? To know that his fans are always on the back of his mind?
His spontaneity and determination showed once again when he managed to fulfil the MC’s request of enacting a shoot for CF(Commercial Film) for the popular snack ‘Khong Guan Fancy Gems’, Kaya and even skincare products. Although he kept saying he failed at executing them well, from the crowds’ response to his attempts, he definitely made us all swoon. Another highlight of the night was when he sang a short snippet of Park Hyo Shin’s ‘Goodbye’, when asked about his favourite song to sing at the Karaoke.

While it was time for a photo with the fans, a surprise video prepared by Singapore W:INDs for Jaehwan was played and it tugged on our heartstrings. It showed the artist’s passion and dreams during his journey from Produce 101, to Wanna One, to his solo career today. The journey was definitely not easy but because fans are always by his side, he has the strength to persevere through each stage. Touched by the unwavering support from his fans, he sincerely thanked W:INDs and promised to work even harder so that they could all walk a flower path in the future.
As the night came to a close, he sang his title song ‘Begin Again’ from his first solo album. An extremely meaningful song, it symbolises his fresh start, going solo. The emotional song also expresses his loneliness as he reminisces the happy memories from the past and how he is gathering the courage to start afresh. With how it portrays his entire journey to where he is today, fans can’t help but sympathise and treasure this song even more.

Like how the night started, he ended it on a high note with an explosive dance stage to Trey Songz’s ‘Neighbours Know My Name’.
