'S... taeyeon's solo concert in singapore
On 12th January 2019, Taeyeon’s long anticipated ‘s… concert tour came to an end as she closed the tour in Singapore. Thousands of SONEs eagerly awaited Taeyeon’s opening appearance to start off the concert - and girl did not disappoint. Pink lightsticks waved in anticipation and loud screams of excitement erupted as the lights came on. Taeyeon appeared in a fiery red dress with the first song - ‘Here I Am’, an unreleased track.
During the first 15 minutes, Taeyeon blew everyone away with her amazing vocals and explosive performance. The K-pop goddess did a dance number while singing ‘I Got Love’ and graced the audience with her impeccable singing with the emotional ballad - ‘Fire’. The lightsticks changing color in accordance to the rhythm of the song was an amazing sight, as Tae Yeon serenaded the ocean of colors.
Following that, Taeyeon grooved and performed yet another unreleased song - ‘Love You Like Crazy’, showing off her powerful dance moves. She showed the audience an amazing feat as this talented performer continued to sing as she was propelled into the air and spun while being suspended. Next up was ‘Something New’, a song which Tae Yeon has never performed on music shows before. According to her, she wanted it to be a song performed live only in concerts, making the moment all the more special to the fans seated in the stadium.
After the gripping performance that kickstarted the concert, there was a short intermission as Taeyeon changed into a cute white dress. She started the next segment with a mellow and beautiful ballad - ‘Do You Love Me’, an unreleased track. As she sang the lyrics “Do you love me?”, SONEs voiced their adoration for her by replying “YES, prompting her to give a shy smile and laugh. The ballad fest did not end there as Taeyeon continued with a special rendition of ‘Rain’.

During the break, Taeyeon took the chance to connect and chat with her fans by noting how she is glad that she got to perform her first concert in 2019 in Singapore. She also noticed one of her fans wearing a mask which made her ask “For those of you with the costumes and masks, isn't it stuffy?" She then drew out a few chuckles and laughs from her fans as she showed a thumbs up and said, "RESPECT" to the fans wearing masks.
As the camera zoomed in onto a fanboy wearing the ‘No Face’ mask from Spirited Away, Tae Yeon jokingly said “Maybe I wouldn’t like ‘No Face’ after today”, evoking more laughter before she laughed and said “I’m kidding I still love it”. She knew the exact Japanese name of the character and even corrected the translator!

Fans cheered as Taeyeon took the stage to perform her favourite song - ‘All Night Long’. She followed up with the upbeat song - ‘Baram x 3’, and the Japanese song - ‘Stay’.
Taeyeon brought her talented band and dance crew into the spotlight as they entertained the audience with a band introduction and dance number to ‘Good Thing’. She then reappeared donning a colourful and preppy outfit and took the stage with ‘Holiday’, one of Girls’ Generation’s title tracks. Despite having to sing all of the lines (usually covered by all 8 members) alone, her dance moves and vocals were still on par with the original Girls’ Generation performance! The audience roared with excitement and chanted along to the lyrics, which was an endearing sight. She then transitioned smoothly into ‘Cover Up’, ‘All Night’, another Girls’ Generation title track, and ‘Fashion’.

Next up was ‘Why’, where she showed off her amazing vocals while dancing at the same time. She did not show any trace of exhaustion despite performing so many songs and her energy throughout was commendable. The lights dimmed and stood on an elevated platform with dazzling lights, singing beautifully to ‘One Day’ looking stunning and elegant in her silver gown. The next few songs showed off her beautiful voice and incredible vocal range, as she serenaded the crowd with several ballads - ‘Gemini’, ‘Secret’, ‘Gravity’ and ‘Fine’. She hit the high notes perfectly and her emotional singing was captivating. ‘Fine’ was also partly an acapella performance and her mesmerising voice shone through.
For ‘Feel So Fine’, she returned to the extended stage and stood on an elevated platform, bringing her to the top of the music hall. She exuded beauty and grace as she belted out the lyrics, enthralling her fans. As she repeatedly thanked the fans after the performance to signal the pseudo end to the concert, many chanted her name repeatedly, yelling for her not to leave.
After many rounds of the fans chanting “Kim Tae Yeon!”, she finally returned with ‘Time Lapse’, now in a shorter outfit. At one point, she got emotional and started tearing, but held back when the fans yelled “Don’t cry!”, saying that she’d stay strong. She thanked the fans for the balloons and glittery items she received backstage, exclaiming at the beauty and grandness of it all, so much so that she thought she had received a proposal! “Let’s live together, forever’, she joked. She also praised the fans for their Korean language skills, as many reacted even before the translator translated, “Aren’t you all Korean?”
When fans yelled that they loved her, the cheeky singer pointed at them and said “of course”, and “I know, I know” leaving the audience in laughter at her antics. On a more serious note, she mentioned that it was the end of her concert (and it’ll be unforgettable for her) and talked about her reflections for the past year and her resolutions for the new year.

Tae Yeon wanted last year to be a year where she found out more about herself and initially wanted this year to be a year where she tries and experiments new things. However, she realised eventually that she wanted to be able to control herself better instead, so as to be a better version of herself that she will be happy with. “Nobody wants to be a bad person, everyone wants to be a better version of themselves, isn’t it?” She wanted to be able to confront her emotions and better herself by doing so.
She also expressed her fear of drifting too much here and there, but concluded that it was another aspect of herself she’d like to improve on. “There are so many people living with so many different emotions, and it’s so fascinating that so many of you are here for this one person, me, and I would like to cherish this”. Tae Yeon ended off her speech with saying “Let’s all be healthy”, “let’s be happy”, and took a photo together with the fans to remember the day by. She ended the concert with the ballad ‘Circus’ and finally, her first ever solo track, ‘I’ and it was an emotional moment both for her and the fans.
As the confetti rained down onto the fans, it signalled the end of the show, and her last concert of the ‘s... tour. We hope to see her return again soon!
