Super Junior <Super Show Spin-Off:Halftime> in Singapore with Lotte Duty Free
On 14th July, Super Junior returned to our sunny island as a group to perform at Singapore Indoor Stadium for their ‘2024 <SUPER SHOW SPIN-OFF: Halftime>’ Asia tour.
E.L.Fs (official fan club name of Super Junior), eagerly streamed into the stadium adorned in various shades of blue, representing the fandom's official colour - pearl sapphire blue, in anticipation of seeing the group again after nearly two years.
In line with the aptly titled tour, the entire theme of the concert was conceptualised off of a rugby match’s halftime show. The stadium erupted into cheers as the group made their grand entrance dressed in chic sporty attire to the tunes of ‘Show Time’, ‘Wonder Boy’ and ‘Dancing Out’.
The members took their time to greet and interact with E.L.Fs, making it feel like a conversation between old friends catching up. Whilst casually throwing in singlish phrases like ‘alamak’, ‘can, can’ ‘shiok’, ‘okay lah’, ’swee-lah’ and more during their introductions, they expressed how much they missed being back here, especially the chilli and pepper crab. May we also just add, Super Junior likely has the most extensive vocabulary of Singlish phrases we’ve heard any KPOP group use to date and we absolutely love them for it. Siwon added that he also went to his favourite place, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where he had the perfect Indian meal. After promising to give their all for the show, upbeat songs ‘Don’t Wait’ and ‘Runaway’ followed.
In between stages, wittily produced filler-videos featuring special guests (spoiler alert) like veteran emcee King Hodong, Lee Sugeun and even SHINee’s Minho, acted as the best segue between each stage. Our favourite portion of the night was definitely what came next, the swapped unit stages. Seeming to take inspiration from Marvel Studio’s animated ‘What If…?’ series, the members filmed videos re-enacting iconic inside jokes like their “petty squabbles” and recreated different outcomes if the members had reacted differently in each scenario.
Each new outcome led to a new unit group’s stage and we loved how they were not the conventional pairings. To not entirely give away the “new” units, let’s just say songs with entirely different genres like ‘Suit Up’, ‘Let’s Not..’, Super Junior D&E’s ‘Danger’, Yesung’s solo OST ‘It has to Be You’, Kyuhyun’s solo ‘At Gwanghwamun’, Ryeowook’s ‘The Little Prince’ and Super Junior K.R.Y’s ‘The One I Love’ were performed. There was hardly a dull moment as the audience were kept on their toes, unsure of what to expect next.
Much to E.L.Fs’ delight, they were further treated to covers of hit tracks like RIIZE’s ‘Get a Guitar’, and New Jeans’ ‘Hype Boy’. Fan favourites ‘SPY’, ‘Opera’, ‘Lovely Day’, ‘From U’, ‘Devil’, ’Black Suit’ A Man in Love’ and ‘Sorry Sorry’ soon followed, signalling that the night was slowly came to an end.
Expressing their gratitude to the fans who have supported and stood by them over the years, the members took a trip down memory lane as they recalled fond memories of their times in Singapore, where they even brought up winning a Grand Prize here 12 years ago. They further thanked the audience in the standing section for enduring the entire show on their feet, acknowledging that many of them had grown up with them and joked for E.L.Fs to even bring their grandchildren in the future. The show concluded with ‘Believe’, as the members promised to continue their journey together as Super Junior and to meet E.L.Fs in our tiny red dot again.
Remaining loyal to their Marvel-inspired concept, here’s a quick tip if you are attending the other stops of this Asia tour, make sure to stay till the end as there is a post-credit scene! A special guest makes their appearance and you’d not going to want to miss this short teaser clip.

After attending today’s show, it’s evident why Super Junior is still going strong as a group and individual artistes all these years. They’re not afraid to push through boundaries, take on new challenges, and it’s obvious how much fun they have performing with each other and for E.L.Fs.
