Bing Go - Korean Dessert House
Bingsu, Toast, Chewy Waffles and more at Binggo Jung!
BingGoJung is a Korean Dessert Café located near Mountbatten MRT Station, a short 5-10 minutes’ walk away. The lighted up sign with snowflakes is very hard to miss.

Within the café is a very cozy interior, with even cushions on top of the chairs for maximum comfort. There are both single / wall-facing seats as well as tables for pairs or larger groups. The snowflake ornaments dangling from the lights also add to the simple yet homely interior.

The café is also located beside a Korean Barbeque Restaurant, which they hold joint promotions with, so one could drop by the KBBQ Restaurant and end their meal with dessert at BingGoJung. However, this is only available at the main outlet (Guillemard).

We were also informed that a new outlet would be opening soon at SIM, so that is something you can look forward to! It will have a different concept as compared to their other outlets, with new flavors that will be available only in that outlet itself, so do visit it when it opens!

On top of the popular, must-have Korean Dessert, Bing Su, the café also serves toasts, drinks and chewy waffles, that are unique to their store. The drinks consist of smoothies, Fruit Ades, Coffee and even Korean Tea, and the prices range from $4.50 to $6.80, relative to the size and type of drink. There is also the “take-away” option for those that want to bring home the desserts to share with their family and friends, as well as the availability of additional toppings at a cost. On the other hand, their Bingsus have prices ranging from $13 to $16 depending on the flavors. The toasts have a fixed price of $6 while the chewy waffles are $5, regardless of flavor.

We were given the opportunity to try four items from their menu, the Injeolmi Bingsu, Coco Mango Bingsu, Caramel and Cinnamon Chewy Waffle and the Cheese and Garlic Toast.
The Injeolmi Bingsu was one of the best we’ve tasted, as their condensed milk is thicker than those of regular Bingsu, and it complemented the soybean powder, almonds and rice cake very well, melting into a blend of sweetness and chewiness in one’s mouth. There was an abundance of small bits of rice cakes in the Bing Su, and they were the perfect amount of softness and chewiness. It is also a large serving of Bingsu, considering the price. It also has a light aftertaste, and does not fill you up quickly, unlike regular Injeolmi Bingsu, and every bite left us longing for more. We are normally not fans of Injeolmi Bingsu, but this one managed to captivate out taste buds and we will definitely go back again just to have it.

The Coco Mango Bingsu took us by surprise. We thought that Coco stood for chocolate (cocoa) but it turned out to be coconut instead. Topped with Mangoes, Nuts, coconut flavored flakes, Nata De Coco and Ice Cream, the Bingsu is every coconut lover’s dream come true. The mango was also slightly frozen, which gave it a slightly crunchy texture which goes well with the shaved ice in the Bingsu. The coconut flakes had a unique taste and was strangely addictive, and all the ingredients amount to an impressive burst of flavors. We highly recommend this, as it is not a common type of Bingsu, and it is definitely worth a try.

We were given the option of having the hot desserts served later and they were all prepared on the spot. The chewy waffle tasted unlike anything we have had before. Topped with whipped cream, cinnamon powder and drizzled with sweet caramel, it was extremely chewy, just like what it’s name suggests. It has a texture similar to Korean rice cakes, but is in the shape of a waffle. The waffle can be quite filling, so we recommend that it should be shared between friends, but the taste is definitely one of a kind.
The Caramel and Cinnamon Chewy Waffle
The final dessert we tried was the Garlic and Cheese Toast, and this was our favorite out of the lot. Filled with melted, stretchy cheese, the toast was toasted to perfection, such that it was still crunchy yet soft in the middle. This is a definite must-have, especially if you are a fan of garlic bread. There is also a slightly sweet aftertaste that complements the savory nature of the garlic and cheese. We highly recommend this after having Bingsu as well, as the toast can warm one’s stomach after the icy cold Bingsu. The toast was also nicely portioned into 4 pieces, perfect for sharing between friends without having to go through the hassle of cutting the toast.
