NunSongYee
Trying to find ways to tackle the summer heat? Craving some icy, cold dessert to cool down in the sweltering Singapore weather? NunSongYee is the place for you!
The main branch of NunSongYee is located near Bugis MRT, exit D (nearer to the Downtown Line). The huge signboard should be easily visible from the MRT exit itself, and it is only a 1-2 minute walk away.
The Signboard outside the Café that is hard to miss
There are two outlets that are open 24 hours daily – the Bugis and Bukit Timah Branch. You can drop by these outlets if you happen to crave desserts in the middle of the night, or if you want a late supper.
It is open 24 hours (Bugis and Bukit Timah Outlet)
The café takes up the entire building, and is three floors high. The interior is beautifully decorated and perfect for group photos to remember the day by. Equipped with free wifi, air-conditioning, comfortable seats and soothing music, it is also a good place for a meetup with friends, or even to study.
The general vibes the café gives off is similar to those in Korea, so it is highly recommended for Korea enthusiasts and people that miss the ambience in the cafes in Korea.

There is also an outdoor section, should you want to soak in the sun (no smoking allowed).

NunSongYee also uses restaurant pagers, so customers make their orders at the cashier before heading up to the seats. The devices will light up and vibrate when the orders are completed, so that they do not have to wait by the counter for the food to arrive.

As NunSongYee is a Korean Dessert Café, they offer a great variety of the popular Korean Dessert – Bingsu, as well as toasts and even different drinks, including Coffee and Tea. The prices range from $12.80 - $15.90 for the regular BingSu, while premium flavours cost a little more, at $18.90 each. Given that the portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and one bowl can be shared between 2-3 people! You can also choose to pair the Bing Su with toast, as it is a perfect combination of sweet and savory.

We chose three different Bingsu flavours (Injeolmi, Green Tea and Deluxe Chocolate) and one toast (Cheese Injeolmi), and they definitely didn’t disappoint. The Chocolate Deluxe Bingsu is outlet exclusive, so it is only available in the main branch, at Bugis. If you’re a chocolate lover, this is something you do not want to miss!
The Outlet Exclusive Chocolate Deluxe Bingsu
The Chocolate Deluxe Bingsu is a cocoa powder coated Bingsu, topped with thin chocolate flakes, Chocolate Pound Cake pieces and Chocolate ice cream. It is every Chocolate lover’s dream come true as nearly every part of the dessert is covered in Chocolate. There are more than enough Chocolate Pound Cake pieces to go around, especially if the bowl is shared between friends, and the thin chocolate crisps add on to the smooth texture of the shaved ice (which is milk flavoured, so the entire Bingsu does not taste overly Chocolatey). It also comes with condensed milk, that one can choose to pour over the dessert if they want more sweetness added to it.
The Injeolmi Bingsu is their signature dessert. Being one of the most popular flavours both in Korea and Singapore, it is definitely one of the must-haves when ordering Korean Desserts. Topped with soy powder, many bits of Korean rice cake and lots of almond slices, this refreshing dessert is loved by all. The combination of these toppings give off a light taste, so that one does not feel extremely bloated after finishing it. This tastes best with condensed milk poured over it, so that it does not feel too dry due to the soy powder.
The last Bingsu we tried is the Green Tea Bingsu. Especially for Matcha lovers, this is a must-have. The shave iced is covered with Matcha powder and bits of rice cakes stuffed with Azuki Beans. A generous portion of Azuki Beans with Matcha ice cream completes the entire dessert. This is a plus point for people that love Azuki beans, as the portion is huge and the beans are not too sweet.
Out of all the desserts, we enjoyed this the most, mostly because we all like green tea, but also because it was the perfect blend of sweetness and slightly bitter Matcha powder aftertaste. The condensed milk that comes with this Bingsu is also green tea flavoured, and is unique to only the Green Tea Bingsu.

All the Bingsus had fine shaved ice that melt instantly in the mouth. The texture is very similar to snow, and unlike the popular Singaporean Dessert, Ice Kachang, the Bingsu shaved ice is milk-flavoured (rather than water).
We also tried the Cheese Injeolmi Toast and it added on beautifully to the aftertaste of the Bingsu. The cheese toast is topped with stringy cheese and nuts, but also contains sugar and bits of chewy cheese within it which complemented each other well. Plated on a floral dish, it also serves as perfect photography aesthetics. As the toast is savory in contrast to the sweetness of the Bingsu, we did not feel bloated, nor overwhelmed by the sweetness and we highly recommend ordering the toast in addition to Bingsu!

The toast also comes perfectly portioned into 6 pieces, which makes it easier to share with your friends!
