Dal.komm - where coffee and music meet
Craving a cup of aromatic coffee? Wishing that you could select your own type of coffee bean to match your taste buds? Dal.komm will be the Cafe of your dreams!
Dalkomm Café is located in the heart of Town, at The Centrepoint, a short walk from Somerset MRT. Fans of the popular Korean Drama, Descendants of the Sun (DOTS) will definitely be familiar with this café, frequented by the main leads. There are also many traces of the drama within the café itself, with a large TV at the cashier area replaying the scenes from the drama. Posters and photos of various scenes in the drama also decorate the café.

The café is equipped with many comfortable, cushioned seats and tables of varying sizes, even a few seating booths should you want slightly more privacy. There are also power sockets and free wifi, ideal for students that want to spend their time studying or hanging out with their friends while having their drink. The air-conditioning is strong and many ballad songs are usually played in the background, making it a very calming and peaceful place to visit.
The interior is also decorated with pretty walls and aesthetic backgrounds that act as good backdrops should you want a group photo after the visit. |

They are also known for their iconic stuffed toy wolf and rabbit, Neukkun and Hayang. The adorable duo are available in the café for people that want to capture their memories at the place with them. They are also up for sale at the counter should you want to bring them home. |

A quick look at their menu shows that there are choices of beans for all Coffee Orders. K1 beans are balanced, nutty and chocolatey. K2s are Citrusy, have a creamy body and are sweet whereas K3 beans are intense, fruity and chocolatey. Take note of which flavours you would prefer in your coffee and just state the choice of beans while placing the order.
This is the unique selling point of Dalkomm, as it isn’t often that cafes offer different bean options that taste distinctly different from one another, but we will focus more on those differences later. There are also options for extra shots and soy milk, at $1. They also have a wide selection of different cakes that look both pretty and super yummy, at $8.00 - $8.50, as well as different pastries. |
We ordered the breakfast set, and the staff recommended that the Croque Monsieur should be paired with a cup of coffee. After trying the set, we understood what they meant. The toast is cheesy and lightly sweet, which goes very well with a hot cup of coffee. Topped with a lot of cheese and drizzled with honey for a sweet taste, it melts perfectly in the mouth. Alternatively, you could also try out their Original Injeolmi Toast for the authentic Korean Injeolmi flavour.
The coffee we chose was a Latte, with K2 beans. The blend was creamy, as they advertise, rich but not bitter. We highly recommend this set together with coffee, as the light taste of coffee goes very well with the savoury aspect of the toast. |

K1 – K3 Blends
For those with a sweet tooth, the sweet potato latte is the perfect choice with a balance of sweetness and creaminess. It tastes exactly like the authentic Korean Goguma (Sweet Potato) Lattes served in Korea’s cafes, and is definitely a drink you should try if you miss the taste of those in Korea. The hot drink would be best on cold rainy days while the iced version would be nice on the usual hot summer days in Singapore. |

This is it for the caffeinated drinks. To experience a greater variety of drinks offered at Dalkomm, we also tried their signature honey grapefruit tea. It is a refreshing drink, even when we chose the option of having it hot. The tea was served with slices of real grapefruit, which complements the honey well. The honey also gave the drink a pleasant sweet taste initially while the grapefruit leaves it mildly bitter and sour at the end, and this is a unique blend of flavours. The use of real fruit in addition to the grapefruit colour of the drink also makes it look really pretty, perfect for pictures. |
Drinks and the Breakfast Set
For food options, we ordered the Kimchi Roast Chicken Pizza and the Cruffin Matcha, which didn’t let disappoint as well. For the Kimchi Roast Chicken Pizza, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender, and was not tough at all. The kimchi was also the right amount of spicy and tasted like the authentic Korean Kimchi. Put together these two flavours and you get an unexpectedly good flavour of Pizza, that you can’t simply order from any pizza outlet. The pizza itself is also crunchy and savoury, perfectly portioned into 6 pieces for easy sharing. It definitely gives you another reason to head back to Dalkomm. |

The Matcha Cruffin is a combination of sweet, crispy and crunchy as well, and makes a good dessert to end off a meal. Topped with whipped cream that tastes like melted marshmallows (literally, you need to try it to believe it) and matcha powder, the cream was not strong tasting and thick but instead light and soft. Every mouthful leaves you craving for more, unlike usual whipped cream that would result in us stopping after a few mouthfuls due to it being extremely filling. The cruffin is crispy and even contains a top layer of more matcha powder and nuts under the mountain of cream. This is the best dessert for any matcha lover. However, we encourage you to practice caution and speed when taking pictures as the cream will not last for long in it’s glorious state, so quickly take pictures before enjoying the sweet dessert. |

If you haven’t already visited Dalkomm, do head down, you won’t regret it! On top of delicious food, a calming ambience and prettily decorated interior, it is also one of the best places to hang out and cool down, or enjoy a dessert after a meal. With its easy accessibility, uniqueness of food and drink options as well as tastes that always leave you craving for more, it should definitely be the next on your list of cafes to visit!
